Have you taken 100% responsibility for your own personal and financial growth?  If you have not done so, then it is going to become harder to grow wealth as you procrastinate.  This is because, you will be leaving some part(s)  of your plans into the hands of someone else!

Jim Rohn says”  You must have a plan for your life.  If you don’t, you will fall into someone Else’s plan for you…and guest what they have planned for you?  Not much!”   In order to grow your wealth, you should take 100% of the responsibility for making it happen.  If means, that if you are a husband, it is not your wife’s responsibility to grow your wealth, unless she is a wealth planner and that is what she does for a living.  Neither is it your children’s duties.  You have to go out, learn what to do, and do it. It is called taking responsibility

So, in practical terms, it means that if you are supposed to put away 10% of your income each month (as explained in the book: “The Richest Man in Babylon“), then you cannot wait until 6 months into they year, turn over to her in bed and ask your wife…”Honey, have you been putting away 10% of our income each month?”

No!  If you are doing that, it means you have passed on the responsibility to her!  It may happen, if your wife is a saver, and understands what is happening here.  In reality however, I don’t think it will.  There will always be more reasons to spend money now, than there is to save it for later.  Everything has a hump!  Saving money on a regular basis may not be familiar territory and it will take resolute discipline to make it become a reality. If saving money on a regular basis is not a habit yet, you  will find there there is an innate resistance to this,  when you first start out.

After 18 months of saving money regularly, and moving short term funds into longer term investments, you will find it easier to do. It will become second nature, so to speak.  The idea behind saving 10% of your income is to pay yourself first.   Now, I have adjusted that somewhat, simply because I believe in tithing.  So, I believe that after taking out my tithe, I should pay myself second. Everything else comes after that.
